About barbara

Integrative Body Psychotherapy (IBP) has taught me that our bodies are a  source of wisdom and healing, and that the body is our pathway to awareness. Through IBP I have learned that by listening to the body, and using conscious breath, we already have everything we need to restore balance and live a life with full aliveness. IBP is a model that both provides containment for healing the past, and invites expansion into new ways of being.

IBP has changed the way I live my life. It has increased my compassion toward my self.  It has changed the way I “do me” in relationships. And, it has become a pathway of greater awareness as well as connection.

I found Integrative Body Psychotherapy (IBP) more than 15 years ago as a graduate student, when I was exploring other breathwork modalities. IBP's concept of working with boundaries and containment set it apart from the other therapies I discovered. This is still the aspect of IBP I love most; it is a model that allows for deep healing, while remaining grounded in the body, and contained. As we reconnect once more to our essence, and let go of habitual holding patterns, the result is a beautiful expansion of self.

I am a registered psychologist, a wife, and a mother. In addition to my work with IBP over the years, I have trained in and worked with healing modalities that include play therapy, Imago Relationship therapy, and the energetic work of Systemic Family Constellations. In my private practice, I enjoy a wide range of work that includes child and adolescent therapy, psychoeducational assessments, supervision of other students and therapists, and of course, the body focused and energetic work of IBP.  For more information or to book a session, please visit my webpage at www.psychologistcalgary.org

It is a great joy to introduce the work of IBP to others.
